• NMAM - A Month of Military History - set aside each week (beginning April 28) to study each branch of military service.  Begin the first week with Homeland Security and the Role of the Coast Guard. The second week for the Air Force; week three the Army.  The Fourth Week would be the Navy and finish this up with the US Marine Corps.
• Invite local service members (active, reserve, or retired) to speak at your class, school or University.
• Have students send email through anyservicemember.org .
• Students can email - create pen/pals with Overseas DoDEA Students.
• Schedule field trips to military points of interest, memorials & museums.

• Review/study the history of our "Pledge of Allegiance" HERE 

• Allow active, reserve or retired service members serve as greeters, ushers, lay leader during service.
• Pray for our country, those who lead it and those who serve it
• Direct sermon content to some aspect of America, Armed Forces, peace
• Add Pledge of Allegiance/National Anthem/God Bless America into services
• Display both American flag and POW/MIA flag to June 14 Flag Day
• Add 4th verse when singing "America"
• In weekly publication/ list name, rank, and organization of family and friends serving in military

• Highlight military history with selected books and magazines.
• Museums could display military artifacts.

• Visit Veterans hospitals.
• Scouting organizations can study flag protocol.
• Local Kiwanis, Lions Club, & Soroptimist International to honor our military.
• Place NMAM banners to your website (See links page )

• Offer specials and discounts to active and retired military ID Card holders.
• Offer special discounts to the public in honor of NMAM.
• Display the Flag and POW/MIA flag during May through June 14, Flag Day.
• Interview military personnel for in-house newsletters.
• Recognize veteran and/or active duty employees and their families.
• Offer bumper stickers, flags, pins and ribbons for employees and customers.
• Make use of Chamber of Commerce, city business committees, and organizations to participate
• Recite Pledge of Allegiance before meetings.
• Decorate with patriot themes.
• Luncheons to honor employed Reservists and Retirees.
• Use military themes during meetings.
• Fly the POW/MIA flag

• Contribute to the Armed Forces Children's Education Fund, Inc.

• Remind listeners and viewers of National Military Appreciation Month
• Play songs with patriotic themes - could even be a "guess that song" contest!
• Perform a "military trivia question each day" or "today in military history" and have listeners call in.  Coordinate with local retailers who may be willing to donate prizes in support of NMAM.
• Invite local military to discuss their part in the military.

• Make a donation to The Fisher House and support families whose loved ones are being treated at military and VA hospitals
• Support the American Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services 
• Volunteer or visit your local VA Hospital to honor veterans from past conflicts
•  Support your troops and lift their spirits by sending them a special "Gifts From the Homefront" certificate
•  "Messages of Support," a daily section that debuted in the Stars and Stripes on March 17th  gives family and friends of deployed service members a chance to pass their greetings to our troops.  Words of encouragement and announcements are free of charge. "Messages of Support" can be e-mailed to the "Stars and Stripes" 24 hours a day at messages@estripes.com and are limited to 50 words or less. These willl be printed on a first-come, first-run basis. "Stars and Stripes" reserves the right to screen and edit all messages and to omit any determined inappropriate.
