(CA-52), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, will be
holding a press conference on
Thursday, May 1, 2003
, to mark the 5th
anniversary of "National Military Appreciation Month."
The month of May is uniquely qualified for this distinction because
it includes VE Day, Military Spouse Day, Loyalty Day, Armed Forces
Day/Week, National Day of Prayer and Memorial Day.
National Military
Appreciation Month is
a time is to encourage all Americans to reflect upon, and recognize,
the commitment and sacrifices our men and women in uniform provide
to our country through their service in the military.
Congressman Hunter will be joined by Alice Wax, Executive Director
of National Military Appreciation Month, who will discuss events
planned for the month of May and the creation of the Armed Forces
Education Fund which will provide financial assistance to the
surviving children of U.S. military personnel killed during
